2nd EMS Academy – Membrane processes for food and biotech industry:
Principles, membranes, applications and design

The EMS Academy is a 2-days workshop developed by the European Membrane Society (EMS) to provide the participants fundamental knowledge of membrane processes and applications. This 2nd EMS Academy is focus in particular on applications in the food and biotech industry. The lecturers of the EMS Academy are both industrial and academic specialists in the field.

The location of the EMS Academy is Tivoli Hotel and Congress Centre, Denmark.

The standard course fee is 9.500, - DKK and includes the course material, single room accommodation (one night) including breakfast at Tivoli Hotel and Congress Centre, two lunches and one dinner. For existing EMS members, the price for the course is 8.500, -DKK. The workshop is limited to 20 participants.

The EMS Academy starts 11 September 2019 at 09:00 with registration and ends 12 September 2021 at 17:00.

Course content:

  • Introduction to membrane processes with focus on pressure-driven processes

  • Electro-driven membrane processes

  • Emerging membrane processes (membrane contactors, pervaporation and forward osmosis)

  • Membranes – Polymeric and inorganic

  • Processes design and membrane modules

  • Membrane fouling and cleaning

  • Plant economics and how to design a membrane plant

  • Membrane applications in food and biotech
